Well I got a call back from Dr. Kissous yesterday regarding the results of Kaylie's hip ultrasound. She said that Kaylie has a mild abnormality, but that her hips aren't completely dislocated. Anyway, I didn't really understand much of what she said so I had to call my friend Shayleen to get more information since her daughter, Olivia, had a bad case of Hip Dysplasia when she was born. She really helped to calm me since Kaylie's is only a mild case. I have been reading and Shayleen even mentioned that it is common among girls, first borns and breech babies...so I don't know if Kaylie had a chance with those odds. I will be getting a call from a nurse at our pediatricians office this week, she is scheduling an appointment for Kaylie with a pediatric orthopaedic surgeon. At this appointment I guess they will look at the angle of her hip to determine if Kaylie will need a harness or if she will just need to be watched and then have another ultrasound done later. If you want more information since I hardly know what I am talking about, visit this site thatShayleen sent me, it really helped me to understand it more...I just can't explain it too well. Plus at this site you can also take a look at what a harness looks like in case you has to have one on. http://www.mgh.harvard.edu/ORTHO/Hip_Dysplasia.htm (you'll have to cut & paste web site) I will let you know more as soon as we have an appointment with the pediatric orthopaedic surgeon. In the mean time, Kaylie really needs all of your prayers. I am glad we found this out so soon, but it doesn't make it any easier with finding out something is wrong with your baby.
Love,
Katie & Kaylie Michele
