Meadows Update

Well I just realized that I have been posting pictures lately, but haven't really written much. So here is a quick update on what our little family has been doing.

Daddy is working hard, like always. He has been staying away for a few nights during the last few weeks so that he doesn't have to spend most of his day driving back and forth. He came home a day early this week and I was very happy about that! We really missed him at home. It is very quiet without him.

Mommy is busy taking care of Kaylie and trying to keep the house in order. When Spencer said he was coming home a day early I had to hurry and get the house cleaned up. I was expecting to have a whole day to clean, but that didn't exactly work out how I had planned. However, I did get most of it looking good. I was asked last Sunday to give a talk in Sacrament Meeting. The topic is Having the Priesthood in the Home. When I got home I realized that it was on Father's Day Sunday which means we don't get to go to Spencer's parents church with them. Spencer told me to just tell them I can't talk that Sunday, but I think there is a reason I was asked to speak on this topic...

Kaylie is of course being a princess like always, I swear she is the best baby! She is learning so much everyday, she just amazes Spencer & I. She has rolled over like I previously mentioned in another post, from her belly to her back. She is now keeping her head up steady all the time. It is so amazing how much she is starting to understand. She is going to be funny just like her dad. She pulls her binky out of her mouth and then she will do one of four things....1-smile and giggle cause she just took it out. 2-put it back in her mouth and just hold onto the binky while she sucks on it. 3-she puts the binky in the side of her mouth and chews on it or 4-she has a hold of it after she pulls it out and can't get it back in her mouth so she sort of throws it. Yep, that's our girl!

Kendra is now finished with school. She did an amazing job this year in Kindergarten. Her last report card said that she was "Above Grade Level"!!! They test the kids on their reading at the end of the 3rd and 4th quarter of school. She was at a DRA Reading level 3 at the 3rd quarter (which is the highest kindergarten level) and at the end of the school year she was reading at a DRA level 12 (which is 1st grade level and only 3 levels from 2nd grade). I guess all that reading at home really paid off. I am going to take her to the library next week and let her pick out as many books as she wants. We are going to read every day that she is with us for at least 30 minutes. She wants to be at a 2nd grade reading level by the beginning of 1st grade. She also has to know certain words by the beginning of 1st grade, she already knows all of them. They also sent home a list of words she needs to know by October of 1st grade...she knows all of them also! She is a smart girl!!

And to end my entry today I want to say that I thought American Idol STUNK last night!! I know Taylor was good, but hello....the dude has gray hair and he is only 28. I think Katharine was a much better choice for American Idol, but oh well! Maybe she will be a Clay Aiken and do better than Ruben! See Ya Later!! I have to go get my scrapbook stuff organized, I am going to start doing that here very soon!

  1. Thanks for the family update! You are such a good mommy & wife! As for American Idol - it all came down to the support from the South!
